Fab 70s

Some of my favourite buildings in Newcastle are from the 70s. It just seems that the belief in creating buildings which express ideas strongly and with self confidence has been less dented than in most of what is being done today. Times have changed and the role of architects has changed towards service delivery but looking back towards those successfull (and failed) expressions of ideas is exciting and some of them still evoke feelings and thoughts.

Here is a chance to map buildings from around that period and see whether and why they still have (or never had) what it takes to be worth talking about. It's a personal story and surely different for all of us. I only made a start - Tell us what tickles your fancy and why.

Help me to make this map more comprehensible and add buildings that you think are worth mentioning. Click on the link to Google Maps and add places and tell us why.

If you don't have a google account you can suggest them here and I will put them in.
